Lígia Soares (Lisbon, 1978) is a Portuguese choreographer and dramatist who has been questioning the scenic space as a distant space. She began her professional work with the Senssuround Theater Company in 1997. In 2001 she founded the Máquina Agradável Associação Cultural co. -directed until 2014. She was artist-in-residence at Tanzfabrik-Berlin between 2004 and 2006, she was a DanceWeb scholarship holder in 2018 (Vienna) her work has been presented nationally and internationally, being present in several theater and contemporary dance programs. He promoted several national and international programming programs with other artists or in collective projects such as Demimonde. “Celebration”, Culturgest 2012, “Demimonde at Galeria da Boavista”, 2013, “Meio-Mundo Estrada Fora”, Lisbon/Porto/Madrid/Paris, 2014, “Face a Face- Luso-Brazilian Performing Arts Program”, 2015 , Brasilia, 2016, Rio de Janeiro. In the 2015/2016 season, he was a member of the TNDM II theater writing laboratory in Lisbon for which he wrote the play “Civilização”.

Following works such as “Romance”, “Teatro Dentro de Nós” or “Turning Backs”, research continues on how to create scenic devices that include the presence of the spectator as a constituent element of the dramaturgy of the show, incorporating or replacing the role of performer itself. His work “O Ato da Primavera” premiered in October 2017 at TNDM II and includes a curatorship in which he invites seven Portuguese playwrights to write plays for a device consisting of telepoints. His plays “Romance” (2015), “Cinderela” (2018), “Civilização” (2019) and "Memorial" (2020) were edited by Douda Correria. “Cinderella” won the Eurodram 2018 award.
